Glenview Squares is fortunate to have dedicated experienced callers as instructors for our classes. We hope you’ll get to know them better by reading about them here and working with them in class.

JAMES CHA
James Cha became hooked on calling in 2017. A natural teacher, James enjoys helping dancers learn new moves and improve moves they think they already know. When he’s not studying calling or singing, James organizes workshops with visiting caller instructors, coordinates caller schedules for regional dances, and has been drafted to serve as Programming Co-Chair for the 2024 Illinois Square Dance Convention. James is a past president of Glenview Squares.

CANDICE HANSEN
Square Dance Instructor Candice Hansen has been calling since 2018. She started down this path, when, as a new dancer, she became intrigued by the challenges and possibilities of square dance calling. Candice has served as a board member and square dance instructor for North Shore Squares, Evanston, IL. Candice will draw on her past experience as a music teacher as she shares her love of square dance with new students.

BRUCE HOLMES (inactive)
Square Dance Instructor Bruce Holmes has been calling since 2013. His teaching efforts with Glenview Squares led to the founding of our sister club, North Shore Squares, and to the publication of a textbook, Becoming a Square Dance Caller. Bruce has spent most of his life teaching one thing or another, and he’s never found anything to match the fascination, rewards, challenges, and fun of teaching Square Dancing. Bruce is a co-president of Glenview Squares.
