We offer lessons for those who have completed Beginning Square Dance (SSD or Mainstream) and are interested in learning more.

SSD —> MAINSTREAM 2026 WORKSHOPS

Explore a few “extended applications” of various SSD calls (i.e., learning to execute the call from less common starting formations, and learn the three calls newly added to the SSD program (which now is referred to as “Mainstream 2026”) – “Quarter Tag,” “Three-Quarter Tag” and “Spin the Top.” These 2-class workshops are held at Glenview Public Library Community Room West, 1930 Glenview Rd, Glenview, IL 60025.

You can attend either workshop, but it would be most beneficial to you if you can come to both of them. Cost is $10/per person/per class. Please let us know that you’re coming using this link.

 

‘plus OR BUST’ square dance lessons

Plus lessons are for existing SSD or Mainstream square dancers who want to learn to dance at the Mainstream or Plus levels, or who want to fine-tune their Plus-level dancing skills. Instructor James Cha builds in plenty of practice and review while teaching new calls each week. Dancers who complete all four sessions of Glenview Squares’ Plus or Bust course will be able to confidently dance Mainstream 26 and Plus 26 calls from a variety of starting points.

The Glenview Squares Plus 26 course runs September through May and is divided into four sessions.

Prerequisites for Session 1: student must have completed SSD or Mainstream and been square dancing for at least 6 months, or have instructor approval.
Prerequisites for Sessions 2, 3, 4: student must have successfully completed the previous sessions or have instructor approval.

Session 1 of 4: 9/9/26 - 10/28/26
Session 2 of 4: 11/4/26 - 1/13/27 [no lesson 11/25, 12/23, 12/30]
Session 3 of 4: 1/20/27 - 3/10/27
Session 4 of 4: 3/17/27 - 5/12/27 [no lesson 3/24]

 

Class Time: 7:00 pm - 8:45 pm
Location: 1st few classes of Session 1 are at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 724 Elder Ln, Deerfield then remaining classes and sessions are at First Presbyterian Church 824 Waukegan Road, Deerfield, IL

Cost per session per person: $100 per 8-week session

The Glenview Square Dance Club offers financial assistance to members and prospective members who can benefit from help with square dance related costs. These include: beginning and intermediate lessons, caller development, club membership dues, and special dances.
